“I've seen Eastern cottontails like this little one many times, and am always delighted by them. They remain very still when they sense you are nearby, and then they bolt and run. The white undersides of their tails look just like puffs of cotton. I painted this cottontail with the familiar black-eyed Susan, a wildflower my sister and I used to pick in bunches to give to our mother when we were children.”
