“These are two of my favorite flowers, and I especially like to plant them together in my garden. They are shown here on an overcast day because I love the way the outdoors, and in particular, how the garden looks, just before a thunderstorm. The sky  gets darker, but somehow, the colors of everything around you seem to glow. The iris in this picture seem to glow that way. I’ve set them against a hazy, darkened background of blues and greens, which makes their warm peach-pink color stand out. I added a border of delicate leaves and little flowers to enclose the scene.”
