Still another quilt class for me

I finished my quilting homework today for another quilting class. In spite of the fact that I am usually behind on Lori’s class, I signed right up for more. This one is supposed to be a yellow and blue quilt, but I bought a pretty pink fabric to make a dress for my poor doll who is still waiting for me to give her some new feet…pink fabric that looked so appealing to me next to the blue and yellow, that I think I may have to use it for my quilt instead. Perhaps there will be enough for both projects, or perhaps I will have to pick out another doll dress fabric, which, in turn, may end up in yet another project.

Lumina, Original one-of-a-kind Folk Art Fairy Doll by Max Bailey

Lumina, Original one-of-a-kind Folk Art Fairy Doll by Max Bailey Here is Lumina, a picture in my memory from my grandmother’s bedtime stories of fairies who flitted around the night sky doing their good deeds. Beautiful and serene, this sweet-faced fairy touches the stars with her magic wand, making them shine a little brighter. A magical and mystical being, she clears away the fog, sometimes leaving a shining trail. When the night is clear, and the heavens are sparkling, she knows her work is done.

Lumina, Original one-of-a-kind Folk Art Fairy Doll by Max BaileyLumina is 12 inches tall and her wings measure 6 and 1/2 inches across. She is made from 100% cotton fabric which is sewn, stuffed, and painted with acrylic paints. I painted her body with an elaborate pattern of stars, moons, and celestial swirls, first blue on blue, then diagonally across her body and down to her feet in gold, red, and orange hues.

Lumina, Original one-of-a-kind Folk Art Fairy Doll by Max BaileyHer wings are quilted and separately attached. I gave them golden edges and stars that seem to radiate light. She has blue eyes and golden hair that I like to think of as touched by starlight. She holds a wand made of wood and paperclay.

Lumina, Original one-of-a-kind Folk Art Fairy Doll by Max BaileyThere is a small loop in the back of her head, should you wish to hang her up. She can also sit on a chair or on a shelf, or stand with a doll stand. (Chair and doll stand not included.) She is signed and dated, and sealed with matte varnish for protection and preservation.

Lumina, Original one-of-a-kind Folk Art Fairy Doll by Max BaileyLumina is a true one-of-a-kind original work of art that began with a visual memory, then became a concept. I created her from my own design and pattern. She is meant for display only.

Lumina, Original one-of-a-kind Folk Art Fairy Doll by Max BaileyUpdate: Lumina has already been adopted. Thank you!

Iris, Pansy, and Rose Floral Giclée Art Prints in Elizabeth Ruffing’s Etsy Shop

I’ve added four of our floral giclée art prints to my Etsy shop. Each one is 3.5 by 5 inches image size on 6 x 8 inch fine art paper. I chose a standard size 6 by 8 inch paper size to expand framing options, as these will fit in either a standard 5 x 7 inch or a standard 6 x 8 inch size mat and frame set, with a white border showing.

Each giclée has a decorative floral border surrounding the central image. Above is “Pansies“.

Purple and White Iris

Peach Iris

Please visit my shop and have a look.
The original watercolor paintings are also available for sale on our Ruffing’s site.
